Meet me – The Second Baby

Image Source : Cafemom.com This is me. The second baby. Ah, yes. I am all too familiar with this term now. And it’s been what? Just five months! Well, it all began even before I made the grand entrance. I was a pretty good baby for 9 months despite the darkness. I must have been very good for my mom was always propped up with her laptop. Wow, even my mighty kicks couldn’t distract her from putting away the damn thing. Apparently, she listened to ‘Gayatri mantra’ on repeat mode when she carried my brother. And when I lived amidst fluid and cells, she heard English pop. Wait, don’t I deserve to get any sanskars (values)? But I’ll tell you all about Chainsmokers and Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. Tsk, tsk. Not what a baby should be talking about! Moving on. But I did give a couple of false alarms before arriving that made my mom wonder if I was ever going to make my way out. But I did and it wasn’t dramatic like my brother’s arrival. Or, may be its something to do with bei

What’s good about Workin’ Moms on Netflix?

Image Source : Working Moms As moms, I think it’s very important to find ways to de-stress ourselves as we do repetitive things day and night to show our children why it’s important to cultivate good habits. As much as we do the same things with the goal of raising good humans, it’s sometimes boring. Yes, that’s the tiny little truth not everybody will admit too.  Motherhood, as much as it’s exciting, can be boring and monotonous. But the good news is that the boring plus the good parts don’t last forever as children grow out of each phase. Tada! Before we know it, the kids are tall and big, as we wonder what happened to the tiny humans we created not so long ago. Anyway, coming back to the topic, I recently got hooked to a Canadian series on Netflix which is titled ‘ Workin’ Moms’ which is about four working mothers who balance their personal and professional lives. It’s about mothers who love their children but also love their jobs, it’s about mothers who sometimes do

Welcome Baby K

I could never quite figure out when was the right time to plan a baby. But when me and my husband finally went for our first child, it felt like the right time. Though our lives changed drastically with the inclusion of a baby who has now grown into a hyperactive, ever-jumpy toddler, it took a while to get used to a life driven around a child. For the most part, it’s been fun but is also challenging to raise a child. Okay, yes, it’s not fun explaining a miniature version of yourself to brush their teeth, or take a shower or why it’s not a good idea to yell and throw stuff and stomp around the house like a roaring animal? You get the idea here!! So, when the idea of another baby popped into my head, I was more confused than ever. You might think it’s just easier the second time because you’ve already been through it the first time. I don’t agree with it because it’s different even the second time, although you know what to expect for the most part. Knowing from the first time c

Pregnancy Blues!!!

I haven’t been blogging much these days and that’s because new changes are taking place inside of my body. Well, growing a human being means a lot of things because everyday is new and different. Very often, you find yourself tracing back to the time of the first pregnancy and find that things are so much different because of the way you look at the days. Of course, I ask myself quite often when I look at my active 4-year-old jumping up and down on the couch, screaming on the top of his lungs as to why I would want to add more noise and madness to my life by bringing another little human? I trace back my memory to the moment when just a few months ago I had started longing for the touch of a baby. Instead of simply watching some baby videos on YouTube or cooing over a friend’s baby, I decided to have one of my own. Pinch me! Or perhaps, I am so used to the madness that a child brings along that I simply decided to add more of it into my life. Because hey, who wants a li

Winter Musings – me, my son and the snow!

We are still in the middle of winter. I guess it’s only after coming to America that the weather has become a constant companion. When I step out, I always make sure I check the AccuWeather app, something that I never did in India. I only had to check outside the window to determine if it was safe to step outside or not. If it’s windy and cold, I’ll have to bundle up my toddler into layers. Thermals, jacket, hat, gloves, socks, boots. The same goes for me. I have a large carton that I use to store warm clothes. Once spring arrives, which is a long way to go, I will pile up all the winter clothes, hoping I won’t have to pick them up for a long time. On this side of America, where I live now can get cold to 0 degrees in Celsius which now I have learned to track in Fahrenheit as well. Though it’s not my first winter, I complain and lament about this dark and moody weather to every person that I meet. It somehow finds its way into everyday conversations with my Uber driver, my neigh
